Priyank Sharma, Bani J, Prince Narula prove Roadies and Splitsvilla are tickets to enter the reality show

There is no other reality show as popular as popular as Bigg Boss in India. I mean the show is in its 11th season and we can safely assume it will be returning with the 12th edition sooner than you can think. Two seasons ago the doors of the Bigg Boss house were only open for celebrity contestants (with a few exceptions). So, you really had to be a down-on-your-luck actor, or a fan-favourite to qualify for the show. It was tough for a new celeb to find their place in the game. Enter Roadies and Splitsvilla. The two youth-based reality shows acted as tickets to Bigg Boss for many contestants. The MTV shows helped new-on-the-block kids to gain instant celebrity status and also qualify for Bigg Boss.

The first experiment of bringing a Roadies star to Bigg Boss paid off very well. Roadies star, Ashutosh Kaushik, ended up winning the second season of Bigg Boss. However, the second import, Sakshi Pradhan of Splitsvilla fame, was a disaster. She made an exit from the show no sooner than she had entered. Then with the succeeding seasons, came Roadies and Splitsvilla stars like Siddharth Bhardwaj, Vishal Karwal, Candy Brar, Renee Dhyani whose stints on various seasons of Bigg Boss, were mediocre. Then came Prince Narula and Rishabh Sinha in season 9, who both made it to the finals, with the former going on to win that season. Bani J and Sahil Anand, from Roadies, were Bigg Boss’ next pick for season 10. And finally, we came to Priyank Sharma in season 11.
